(a) If point D is $+ 8$ ">

Adjacent figure is a vertical number line, representing integers. Observe it and locate the following points :

(a) If point D is $+ 8$

To do:

We have to observe and locate the given points.

Solution:

(a) Point $D$ is $+8$ and point $O$ is $0$.

This implies,

The opposite direction is negative.

Point $F$ is 8 units below $O$.

Therefore,

Point $F$ is $-8$.

(b) Point $D$ is $+8$ and point $O$ is $0$.

This implies,

The opposite direction is negative.

Point $G$ is 6 units below $O$.

Therefore,

Point $G$ is a negative integer.

(c) Point $D$ is $+8$ and point $O$ is $0$.

This implies,

The opposite direction is negative.

Point $B$ is 4 units above $O$.

Point $E$ is 10 units below $O$.

Therefore,

Point $B$ is $+4$ and point $E$ is $-10$.

(d) Point $D$ is $+8$ and point $O$ is $0$.

This implies,

The opposite direction is negative.

Point $E$ is 10 units below $O$.

Therefore, the least value on the number line is point $E$ and it represents $-10$.

(e) Point $D$ is $+8$ and point $O$ is $0$.

This implies,

The points above $O$ are positive and the points below $O$ are negative.

Therefore, the points in decreasing order of value are $D, C, B, A, O, H, G, F, E$.
