(a) The length of Ramesh's notebook is $ 9 \mathrm{~cm} 5 \mathrm{~mm} $. What will be its length in $ \mathrm{cm} $?
(b) The length of a young gram plant is $ 65 \mathrm{~mm} $. Express its length in $ \mathrm{cm} $.
To do:
We have to find their length in \( \mathrm{cm} \).
Solution:
We know that,
$1\ cm=10\ mm$
This implies,
$1\ mm=\frac{1}{10}\ cm=0.1\ cm$
(a) $5\ mm=5\times0.1\ cm$
$=0.5\ cm$
Therefore,
The length of Ramesh's notebook $=9\ cm+0.5\ cm$
$=(9+0.5)\ cm$
$=9.5\ cm$
The length of Ramesh's notebook in \( \mathrm{cm} \) is $9.5\ cm$.
(b) $65\ mm=65\times0.1\ cm$
$=6.5\ cm$
Therefore,
The length of the young gram plant $=65\ mm$
$=6.5\ cm$
The length of the young gram plant in \( \mathrm{cm} \) is $6.5\ cm$.
