A table-top measures $ 2 \mathrm{~m} 25 \mathrm{~cm} $ by $ 1 \mathrm{~m} 50 \mathrm{~cm} $. What is the perimeter of the table-top?

Given:

A table top measures $2\ m\ 25\ cm $ by $1\ m\ 50\ cm$.

To do:

We have to find the perimeter of the table-top.

Solution:

We know that,

Perimeter of a rectangle of length $l$ and breadth $b$ is $2(l+b)$

$1\ m=100\ cm$

This implies,

$1\ cm=\frac{1}{100}\ m$

Therefore,

Length of the table-top $(l)= 2\ m\ 25\ cm$

$= (2+\frac{25}{100})\ m$

$=(2+0.25)\ m$

$=2.25\ m$

Breadth of the table-top $(b)= 1\ m\ 50\ cm$

$= (1+\frac{50}{100})\ m$

$=(1+0.5)\ m$

$=1.05\ m$

Perimeter of the table-top $= 2 (l + b)$

$= 2 (2.25 + 1.50)\ m$

$= 2 (3.75)\ m$

$= 7.5\ m$

The perimeter of the table-top is $7.5\ m$.
