Description:
It is quite common among people (specially developers) to have linux and windows both installedon a machine.and it is a very common problem that you reinstall windows and when you reboot the
grub bootloader is nowhere to be seen.
This also applies if you have installed a linux distro first and then install windows.
The reson is that by default linux distros install the boot loader in the MBR(Master Boot Record) of your hard disk.when you install windows (whether windows XP or Vista) it overwrites the MBR and thus the boot loader residing there is erased .Thus you loose your linux. This problem can be solved very easily if you have a live linux CD/DVD of any distro. If you don’t have then download gparted live cd,as
it can be used for a variety of system management tasks.
