Prototype stripScripts() Method

This method strips a string of anything that looks like an HTML script block..

Syntax:

string.stripScripts();

Return Value:

  • Returns the trimmed string.

Example:

<html>
<head>
<title>Prototype examples</title>
<script type="text/javascript" 
   src="/javascript/prototype.js">
</script>
<script>

function showResult(){
  var str = 'a &lt;a href="#"&gt;link&lt;/a&gt; ' + 
            '    &lt;script&gt; ' + 
            '         alert("Hello!") ' + 
            '    &lt;/script&gt;';

  var str = str.unescapeHTML();

  alert( str);
  alert (str.stripScripts() );
}

</script>
</head>

<body>

  <p>Click the button to see the result.</p>
  <br />
  <br />
  <input type="button" value="Result" onclick="showResult();"/>

</body>
</html>

This will produce following result:

a <a href="#">link</a>
