A store owner has 60 lbs. of candy. If he puts the candy into 8 jars equally and has leftover 6.4 lbs. of candy, how much candy will each jar contain?
Solution
Step 1:
Amount of candy in 8 jars = 60 – 6.4 = 53.6 lbs.
Step 2:
Amount of candy in 1 jar = 53.6/8 = 6.7 lbs.
A papaya is 0.25 Kg heavier than 1/3th the weight of a water melon. If the watermelon has a weight of 5.4 kg, what is the weight of the papaya?
Solution
Step 1:
Weight of water melon = 5.4 Kg
Step 2:
Weight of papaya = 1/3 × 5.4 + 0.25
= 1.8 + 0.25
= 2.05 Kg
