What is Lean Six Sigma?

As per Wikipedia "Lean Six Sigma is a synergized managerial concept of Lean and Six Sigma that results in the elimination of the seven kinds of wastes/muda (classified as Defects, Overproduction, Transportation, Waiting, Inventory, Motion and Over-Processing) and provision of goods and service at a rate of 3.4 defects per million opportunities (DPMO)."

Six Sigma is a Process improvement Method where you can Improve process by Reducing the waste or hazards OR guide the current process such a way that you will get more profit out of it. Deploying a Six sigma is nothing but a Process Reengineering and it cat fit to any Industries & not only for software industry. Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Kanban Development are some of the blend of Six Sigma. In that way you can come across terms like Lean Sixsigma, Kaizen Six sigma etc. Six Sigma can be use for Qualiy improvement, Fulfillment & Total Quality Management(TQM)
