NAME

basename - strip directory and suffix from filenames

SYNOPSIS

basename NAME [SUFFIX]
basename OPTION

DESCRIPTION

Print NAME with any leading directory components removed. If specified, also remove a trailing SUFFIX.

EXAMPLES

basename /usr/bin/sort
  Output "sort".

  Output "stdio".
